WIENER Crate Remote Control

CAN-control scheme

Monitoring and remote control for NIM, CAMAC, VME and VXI crates

The W-IE-NE-R crate remote control concept includes the monitoring and remote access on all bin, power supply and fan tray parameters as:

  • all voltages and currents
  • temperature measurement inside of fan tray, power supply and bin (optional)
  • all status signals
  • average and single speed of each fan, remote control of fan speed
  • over- and undervoltage trip-off points, current limits for module test procedures
  • remote on / off
  • remote SYSRES (VME)

The crate remote control is based on the intelligent micro-processor controlled fan tray unit which can be equipped with a plug-on interface for:

Network Max. Stations Transmission Length Protocol Host Controller
IEC (GPIB) 15 8Mbaud 15m IEEE488/78 PC, workstation, VME
HS-CAENET 99 1Mbaud - - PC, CAMAC, VME
CAN-bus 126 up to 1.6Mbit/s up to 500m ISO898, CAN 2.0A PC, VME

New-IconIntelligent WIENER CAN-bus remote protocol standard

  • automatic crate detection
  • in case of failure conditions automatic error message generation
  • broadcast and group functions
  • fast crate monitoring
  • ready-to-run MS-Windows crate manager software
