button vitalize frame grabber server behind each server name
(Stefan Weisse)
Simple explanation:
If 'valid video' indicator keeps yellow although you are sure that the
camera you recently attached to the server is working fine, you may press
vitalize and wait up to 20 seconds. After that, the server should start
acquiring frames from that camera.
In-depth explanation:
During on-shift use of the Video System, all servers should remain stable,
even if there are cameras switched off or on, are reconfigured or cables
are disconnected and reconnected. However, one small glitch could not be
automatically treated and requires help of the operator. It may happen
that a camera slowly dies and renders the framegrabber card in a state
where no video can be grabbed (although no error is reported by the
software API), even if the server was switched to a fully working camera
in the meantime.
The only choice is to stop the server via watchdog and let it start again
by the watchdog service. After this procedure, the server should be again
able to acquire video, if it was connected to a fully working camera
before. The 'vitalize' button just does that, i.e. send a command to the
watchdog to stop the server. After the server is stopped, it should be
restarted automatically by the watchdog and starting to acquire frames
again. Finally, the 'Server alive since ...' string should be updated
soon. |
