F2000: A standard AMANDA offline event format

The format is based on the existing RAVEN and DESY-DUMAND-ASCII formats. It provides:

• User-extensibility via user-defined fields
• Tagging of origin of optical module hits
• Tagging of mother-daughter information in Monte Carlo particles
• Geometry and calibration information
• Complete Unix command-line history of all programs processing the data
• The option to store pulses for a given channel on the same line, or on separate lines.

• Format description The complete specification, including definitions of particle IDs, coordinate systems, etc.

• Format example A sample F2000 file of the current version (V1.5) which contains some (hopefully, self-explanatory) examples.

• Mailing list A mailing list exists for all questions, requests and comments to f2000@ifh.de.

  • Tools for reading and writing F2000, including a program which creates column-wise ntuples.
  • The AMANDA raw data reader, which can write events in F2000 format.
  • SiEGMuND, the DESY software package, with forthcoming support for F2000. The IO-library rdmc provides f2000 support.
