How to get

from airports/railway stations to the conference site,
from the conference site to your hotel,
from airports/railway stations first to
and then to the conference site.

Public Transport

When you arrive and decide to go to the conference site or hotel by public transport, we recommend that you buy a single fare only ("Normaltarif AB Einzelfahrschein") at a price of 4.20 DM.
You may get the ticket from a bus driver of from a ticket machine. In the latter case, the ticket is valid only with a stamp: insert it into one of those red boxes.

If you arrive by train with a ticket to Berlin Stadtbahn, you can freely use the S-Bahn between the railway stations. This includes "Friedrichstrasse", the station closest to Humboldt University.

A taxi to the center costs about 50 DM from Tegel Airport and even more from Schönefeld.

Upon registration, you will receive your name badge containing the logo of the Berlin traffic company BVG. This entitles you to travel free of charge on all carriers:

regional trains, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, busses, trams from August 18 until August 24, 12 p.m.
