Last Announcement

Dear Participant,

In a few days time, LATTICE 2001 will start. Therefore, let us give a few final recommendations and hints for your arrival in Berlin.

There are many possibilities to arrive in Berlin. Berlin has three airports and several railway stations. Therefore, unfortunately, it is impossible to meet everybody upon arrival. However, in case you really need help, please let us know your flight or train number and the exact arrival time until thursday morning.

http://www.desy.de/lattice2001 and click to the information button 'How to arrive?'. There you find hints how to come to your hotel or directly to the conference site. If you arrive on Saturday at noon or later we recommend to show up first at the registration desk. You will get the name badge containing the logo of the Berlin traffic company BVG which entitles you to travel on all carriers free of charge: regional trains, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, busses, trams, from August 18 until August 24, 12 p.m.

Some of you might come with a car. We assume you will then be equipped with a map. Leave the main highway around Berlin at an exit labelled 'Berlin-Zentrum'. If you see signs 'Berlin-Tiergarten', 'Alexanderplatz' or 'Potsdamer Platz' you are more or less on the right track. The main building of Humboldt-University is located in the center just in the middle of the street `Unter den Linden' between the famous Brandenburg gate and the TV tower at Alexanderplatz. But keep in mind that for parking you mostly have to pay everywhere in the center (except on weekends and in the evening).

Auditorium Maximum You can enter from the historical street Unter den Linden passing the monuments of Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt and of Hermann von Helmholtz or, somewhat more conveniently, from the back side of the building i.e. from Dorotheenstrasse. The closest (regional) train station, S- and U-Bahn station is Friedrichstrasse. Please, find a map on our web page using the button 'Berlin Infos'.

The registration desk will be open on Saturday 18, 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. as well as on Sunday 19 from 8 a.m. To welcome you and in order to get together, there will be snacks, drinks and refreshments available on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Those, who are going to present a poster can pin it to the board immediately after registration. The poster session is scheduled for Sunday evening.

The updated time table and the whole scientific program can also be found on the web page together with the abstracts of all contributions to parallel and poster sessions. There you may find also other useful information. E.g. 'Berlin infos' provides also the weather forecast. At the moment the weather is quite unstable.

Finally, (PhD) students interested in buying tickets for the university cantine should take into account that the students price category holds for those who can show an international or German students identity card.
