First Announcement

LATTICE 2001, the XIX International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory, will take place at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Unter den Linden 6
D-10099 Berlin from August 19 to August 24, 2001. Registration will begin on Saturday, August 18. The program will begin the next morning and will conclude on Friday, August 24 at noon.

Topics will include:

QCD spectrum and quark masses
Hadronic matrix elements
Non-zero temperature and density
Heavy quark physics
Topology and confinement
Chiral symmetry
Spin and Higgs models
Quantum gravity and random surfaces
Algorithms and Machines

There will be plenary talks, parallel talks, and a poster session. Equipment for video demonstrations and beamers will be available. The deadline for submission of abstracts is June 15, 2001.

We anticipate that the registration fee will be below 250,- EU. Participants are expected to obtain their own funding. Very limited support may be available for participants from developing countries and for students and beginning postdocs who are unable to obtain sufficient support elsewhere. More information will follow in the second announcement.

The conference sessions will be held in the historical main building of Humboldt-University Berlin. Accommodation will be provided in a variety of hotels located in the City of Berlin partly in walking distance from the conference site. The single room prices will vary in between 45 EU and 85 EU. Detailed housing information will be provided in the second announcement.
