- To solve this problem, without conflicts with the OSF DCE specifications, we made enhancements on both DCE/DFS and JP1/OmniStorage.
For example, I will explain the control flow for ‘READ’ action as follows. (‘WRITE’ action is similar to it.)
- For JP1/OmniStorage, we introduced new read/write interface functions for DCE so that DCE enable to notice the target data is not on a disk, but in a tape.
- For DCE/DFS, when the target data is not on a disk, the DFS server notifies the status to the client, and DFS client retries the request.
