File sharing is more useful if applications are available cross-platform
- Otherwise you share few more than ASCII and HTML files
Sharing applications across platforms
- UNIX applications can be made available to Windows desktops using a X-terminal emulation software
- Windows applications can be made available to UNIX desktops using WinCitrix solutions

Windows applications (as opposed to X-Windows applications) do not foresee to run with CPU and video separated and often they generate fast screen animation that can saturate the network
WinCitrix servers do not scale easily with lot of users connected
Some Win32 applications cannot run on WinCitrix extensions
