Currently access 3480/3490E drives in Storagetek tape library (~36000 cartridges)
Storagetek 9710 DLT robot (392 cartridges, up to 10 drives - we want DLT 7000s) waiting for DIVA
Very interested in Redwoods: already chosen at SLAC, under tests at CERN
Concerned about users’ ability to use such hi-capacity storage
- Need to liberate notion of data from notion of tape file
- Need something like HPSS
